State of Hawaii IncomeTax Check Off

  Support Children and Families

Did you know that you can contribute to programs and services that support children and families through your State of Hawaii Income Tax Return.  The State of Hawaii has special funds, called the Domestic and Sexual Violence/Child Abuse and Neglect Funds, which are used to ensure that there are prevention and intervention programs to support children and families throughout the State of Hawaii.

By simply checking a box on your State of Hawaii Income Tax Form you can make a difference in the lives of children and families.  If you have an overpayment of at least $5 ($10 if married and filing a joint return), you can choose to contribute to these funds.  Check the box, entitled Domestic and Sexual Violence/Child Abuse and Neglect Funds on line 43c (Form N-11), line 32c (Form N-13), or line 60c (Form N-15).

Your contribution will support three causes:
  • Hawai‘i Children's Trust Fund is a public-private partnership between the Department of Health and the Hawaii Community Foundation.  This fund provides support to programs across the State of Hawai‘i for the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
  • Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Special Fund is administered by the Department of Health.  Donations support community programs, coalition building, public awareness and education campaigns, and other activities across the State of Hawai‘i for domestic and sexual violence intervention and prevention.

  • Spouse and Child Abuse Special Account is administered by the Judiciary and the Department of Human Services and provides support to programs for spouse and child abuse intervention and prevention.
The Hawai‘i Children's Trust Fund, the Hawaii State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and the Hawai‘i Coalition Against Sexual Assault encourage you to support local organizations working to prevent sex assault, domestic violence, and child abuse and neglect in Hawai‘i by contributing to the Domestic and Sexual Violence / Child Abuse and Neglect Funds on your State of Hawaii Income Tax Form.
