WHY CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION IS IMPORTANT

WHY CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION IS IMPORTANT

The term "prevention” usually represents activities which stop a behavior or action. In addition it can be used to represent activities which promote a positive behavior or action. According to research successful child abuse interventions must both promote protective factors and reduce risk factors to make sure the well-being of families or children.

Protective factors are conditions in communities and families which, when present, boost the well-being and health of families and children. They are aspects which serve as buffers, assisting parents who might otherwise be at risk of abusing their children to find supports, resources or coping strategies which allow them to parent successfully, even under stress.

The major component of child abuse prevention is to understand that a child is pure and innocent. Because they are learning to reason and logic and their minds are fragile and, children are susceptible and vulnerable to what they are exposed to.

Every child has the natural right to be loved in their hearts and have a sense of protection and security. With the experience of love, support and the understanding and respect between the child and guardian, it assists to attribute to the growth of a child's self-love, self-esteem and respect, in a positive light.

The other feature of child abuse prevention is if a guardian or an adult has, sadly, experienced abuse in their own childhood. It is very significant and necessary to get the suitable assistance and an understanding to prevent future occurrence.

Child abuse interferes with a child’s normal development and growth .The physical and emotional damage children suffer from neglect and abuse is wide. Documented consequences of child abuse include language and cognitive and disorders, chronic health problems and socio-emotional problems like low self-esteem and poor relationships with peers and adults and lack of trust

Child abuse is costly for most social institutions. Re-mediating the instant consequences of serious physical abuse alone costs hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and child welfare agencies millions of dollars annually. Furthermore, child abuse costs continue to increase over time e.g. children killed as a result of neglect or abuse never has the opportunity to contribute to society. In the most recent years these deaths have cost more than $3 billion lost future productivity.

Child abuse prevention efforts serve as a means to combat other social problems of concern to policy makers and to the public. According to research there is a strong correlation between a variety of adult problem behaviors and history of abuse including, juvenile and adult crime, poor social adjustment and substance abuse the constant expansion of prevention services may lead to the eventual lessening of these problems.

Child abuse prevention creates a more sympathetic society, one which places  more value on the welfare of children. Insuring the secure and safe rearing of the next generation needs the efforts of all citizens and all policy makers. To the level all are involved in the war to prevent child abuse, all are made more aware of the purpose to nurture human potential in all that we do.

In conclusion, child abuse prevention is vital thing which must be taken serious as it can be seen from above discussion.
